I'm Jojogingerhead, a 31 year old artist & musician based in Brighton (UK) satirically documenting the highs and lows of my secondary triple negative breast cancer diagnosis. Trying to see the light in a dark and scary situation without using the words fight, battle, journey or survivor.
I had a kidney function test yesterday at the Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Sussex (it sounds a lot cooler than it really is). I’m not really quite sure why I had to have the test, sometimes I don’t like to ask too many questions and live in a state of ignorant bliss. Nurse mentioned something about chemo affecting kidneys, can’t be any worse than the vat of vodka I drunk on the weekend though, right?
Anyway, it took nearly ALL DAY as they injected me with radioactive dye and then took blood tests every hour, apparently you’re not allowed to go near pregnant women or young children for 24 hours after this injection. So I sat round the corner in a local cafe (don’t worry, it was full of old people, not a pregnant woman/child in sight) with only a cup of green tea and Tinder for entertainment. Needless to say, I had cramp in my thumb from swiping left so often and my phone died after about an hour leaving me bored shitless for the rest of the afternoon, well until my best friend rescued came and me with more tales of dating…
